Matt Cutts Explains Google

As a Google Software Engineer, Matt is Google’s gift to anyone who wants to understand the relationships between their site/blog and Google. But don’t take my word for it, visit his blog and spend some time browsing through his Category links …a lot of time. You gotta like anyone who can pull off a statement like this with all sincerity (more than once), and mean it [paraphrased]:

‘As webmasters, you can do whatever you want to do with your site - that’s your rite. I completely respect that. But Google is our site and as such we strive to implement our own set of best practices in order to return quality indexes for the community that we serve - that’s our rite.’

You can access Matt’s tutorials by searching for his name via none other than Google Video (and of course, YouTube).

A few of my personal favorites (in no particular order):
Google Webmaster Tools (7 min)

How to structure a site (5 min)

SEO Myths (4 min)

Google Terminology (5 min)

Qualities of a Good Site (addresses Open Directory vs Meta Queries) - 6 min

SE Tips (6 min)

Optimize for Search Engines, or End Users (4 min)

Make sure you check out Matt’s blog.
