Brand New Twitter Experience with People Browser
On the heel’s of FaceBook’s latest ‘page’ liberties, there comes a brand new web app for Twitter that makes TweetDeck pale in comparison.
In fact, life just became so much more fulfilling for social media users-at-large.
People Browser is a web-based “TweetDeck on steroids” that lets me abandon TweetDeck with a clear conscience.
Released to the public 8 Mar 09, this is a monumentally promising web app for Twitter.
In a nutshell, here’s why…
- TwitPic support
- Multiple stack options
- RSS
- Built-in Plaxo contacts (add any Twitter @name to your Plaxo address book),
- Search (location, bios, conference)
- #hashtags and tag search
- Stats and reporting (top twitters, followers-not-followed, ungrouped following, etc)
- Multiple profile integration (FB, MySpace, Google Blog Search, Plaxo, LinkedIn, Flickr, YouTube, Seesmic, FriendFeed, Digg, Identica, Photobucket)
- Profile ID aggregator (public, private, none) that highlight a person’s profile data from multiple social networks
- Auto refresh
- Split tweets of 140+ characters
- Groups (private, public, popular, etc)
- Space-saving footer controls
- URL shortener prompt (or keep it long)
- Multiple viewing options (stream, map, gallery)
- Inline DM, reply, re-tweet, fav
- Tagging
- Sorting posts (most recent, links only, A-Z, popularity)
- Scheduled tweets
- SO MUCH MORE (I feel like a salespage for saying that but seriously, you need to play with this to see why)
I’ve since added this to my standard open tab session with Firefox’s Session Manager. It is BY FAR the forerunner of Twitter clients (web or desktop)!
It’s only short-coming is in load time. Multiple searches seems to be a little taxing for APIs but so far, my curiosity is appeased by the functionality of this app so I’m not complaining.
PeopleBrowsr isn’t just about Twitter – it’s about all things social.
Finally, someone has done a really great job at taking the social dysfunction out of web 2.0!
